Tutta Palin is Professor of Art History at the University of Turku. Her research interests mainly lie in late 19th century and early 20th century Finnish and Scandinavian art and visual culture, including portrait painting and photography, and often involving issues related to gender and class. Her current research project (Kone Foundation) focuses on the ways of popularising Modernism in early 20th century Finnish illustrated print media, and on public images and modes of (self-)presentation, or narrativisation, of modern artists.
